Love one another?

I am often challenged in my mind with the question, "Am I living out love toward others?"

Are we, every single one of us who professes Jesus as Lord, living this out in our Christian lives?

Jesus spoke these words - "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." John 13:34

It is a clear command from our Lord to every single believer.

But what sort of love is this?

100 % Sacrificial Love - "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

Our Lord lived this perfect love out toward us, even unto the very end of His first coming - "Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end." John 13:1

...even unto everlasting will He love us - "The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, [saying], Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee." Jeremiah 31:3

How can we love in such a way?

We cannot of course...but our God, who is Love, can.

He is the source of love, and it will be by His power within us in order to love in such a way.

Jesus said, "As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love." John 15:9-10

Live a life of faith and trust in the Lord Jesus (which is truly to abide in Him) and you will live this command of "Love one another" out in your lives.

Amazed by His love,
