Busy Busy Busy!

I have been so busy of late. For a while now I have been meaning to blog, but I just haven't gotten to it.

There are a few things I have a desire to write about: various unbiblical movements within mainstream christianity, the church of Rome's influence upon the church, the grace of God, the importance of prayer, and some other important issues.

Today, I decided to just do a brief entry, AND...all of my future entries will be brief as well.

It's hard to find the time and place to do more than that.

Now...

What in the world is going on with the church these days?!

Why do I ask?

Just look at the church.

Question: Are we seeing the departure from the faith (1 Timothy 4:1-3), the falling away (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12), that Paul had written about centuries past?

Here are some things to think about concerning the state of the church today:

Jesus said to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness: Are we seeing that so much in the church these days? What I'm personally seeing are professing christians, leaders and lay people, building up their own kindgoms upon earth and seeking their own righteousness: Earthbound instead of heavenbound (God's kingdom).

Jesus said to deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow Him, the Son of the living God: Are we seeing that in the church these days? What I'm seeing are professing christians, leaders and lay people, exalting and pleasing their own selves, not Jesus: Following man instead of the Lord.

Jesus said that when the Holy Spirit would come upon His people, they would receive power to be His witnesses: Are we seeing that in the church? What I'm seeing are professing christians, leaders and lay people, depending upon their own strength and their own wisdom: Depending upon man instead of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said that God's word is truth: Are we seeing that so much in the church these days? What I'm seeing are professing christians, leaders and lay people, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men, which deny the truth of God's word.

So instead of the God of the Bible, professing christians have made a god in their own image; one that suits themselves, one that pleases them, and one that would never offend their conscience. Instead of Jesus, professing christians are taught to enjoy life here & now, and that good deeds would be their ticket to salvation after this life. Instead of the Holy Spirit, people are relying upon the strength and wisdom of man. And instead of the word of God, everything is just left up in the air.

This has been going on for a long time, I know, but it seems like it has become more prevalent recently...and at such a alarming rate!

Once again, what is going on?

Lord Jesus, help us!
