Facing the Opposition (Answering September's questions one by one)

5 – So you actually believe that all you have to do is just have faith, and then you can just go on living whatever life you want to? … You can just go out and kill someone and you’re still “saved?”

What does God say in His word, the Bible?

Here are some main points that lead into answering the question.

God is good.

Mark 10:17-18

God's Law is holy, just, and good.

Romans 7:12

Mankind is not good.

Psalm 14:2-3

Romans 7:18

God's Law proves this fact: mankind is, in reality, sinful and guilty before The Judge of the whole earth.

Romans 3:19-20

Jesus Christ is good.

Matthew 5:17-18

Romans 10:4

Hebrews 4:15

1 John 3:5

Jesus Christ came into this world to save sinful and guilty mankind.

1 Timothy 1:15

John 3:16-17

The Gospel of grace is as simple as ...

1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Repentance toward God and faith toward Jesus Christ is our response to the Gospel.

Acts 17:30

Mark 1:15

Romans 10:9-10, 13

Being saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ alone is clearly taught in the Bible.

Ephesians 2:8-10

Titus 3:3-7

Romans 4:1-8

We do believe that it is only by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ that a man can be saved. However, we do not believe that a man can be genuinely saved and then go about practicing a rebellious lifestyle. He may stumble and sin in his life, but it will not be his lifestyle.

Most importantly, the Bible is clear on the matter.

Romans 6:1-4

The main reason why the question is raised is because man has a very low view of God and a very high view of himself.

Psalm 10:4

Psalm 16:12

Proverbs 21:2

The pride of man is revealed in this. God hates pride. He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

Proverbs 8:13

Proverbs 16:5

Proverbs 21:4

James 4:6

When you say that the grace of God alone is not enough to save us, that we need to do our part to obtain salvation, you are denying the full efficacy and sufficiency of the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible declares that He alone saves!

To the religious LDS member who laughs and scoffs at what has been shared so far: Your pride has seriously blinded you. Do you really believe that you are good enough to stand before a Holy God?

You make claim to believing in Jesus Christ (although he is not the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible; see Answer #3), you have been baptized, you attend church often, you do what the church requires of you to the best of your ability, and perhaps you even go beyond the call of duty. Is this what you will bring to the gates of God's Heaven?

With all of that said, let me ask you this very important question: What about your sin? If you say that you have no sin or that you have not sinned in such a way as to offend God, you deceive yourself and make God a liar. (1 John 1:8-10) Not convinced? How have you done in light of James 2:10 or Matthew 5:21-28?

Did you know that sin cannot enter into His kingdom? (See 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21. )

Listen reader, are you forgiven?

The Bible says, "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission (forgiveness)." (Hebrews 9:22)

If there is no forgiveness without the shedding of blood, what is your response to the sins you have committed after "receiving your testimony?"

The Bible says, "For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" (Hebrews 9:13-14)

There is an absolute necessity for a total cleansing of all of our sins before we can enter God's kingdom.

Our plea to you is to repent (turn away from your sin and turn toward the true and living God) and believe (fully relying upon the Lord Jesus Christ and His work) the Gospel!

Facing the Opposition (Answering September's questions one by one)

4 - By what authority were you baptized? … You don’t have the proper authority!

What does God say in His word, the Bible?

Matthew 28:18-20 ...Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power (authority) is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

Ephesians 1:20-23 ...He (God) wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set [him] at his own right hand in the heavenly [places], Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all [things] under his feet, and gave him [to be] the head over all [things] to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Colossians 1:18 ...he (Jesus) is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence.

1 Timothy 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (No other man! Not an organization!)

Hebrews 4:13-16 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things [are] naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast [our] profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 7:23-26 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this [man], because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, [who is] holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; (Can you honesly lay claim to this priesthood, especially in light of the last part of this passage?)

Born again Christians, members of the body of Christ, the Church, are baptized by the authority of Jesus Christ, according to the Bible. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, is our authority. LDS members, however, argue that their organization is the only true church upon the face of the earth. And it is only the LDS church that has received true authority directly from Jesus Christ, and holds this authority in order to give proper baptism.

Does their argument hold water? No, in no way. Why? Because the Lord Jesus Christ that is revealed in the Bible, God manifest in the flesh (John 1:1, 14; 1 Timothy 3:16), is not the Head of the LDS church. If He is not the Head, then there is absolutely no authority.

The jesus of Mormonism is not the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible! God's word, the Bible, is clear on Who Jesus Christ is. Mormon doctrine outright denies what has been revealed in the Bible.

LDS neighbor, if you don't agree, the previous prophet and president of the LDS church declared the fact:

In speaking of Jesus Christ to his followers, Hinkley spoke of those outside the LDS church, who say Latter-day Saints do not believe in the traditional Christ: "No I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak." (The Church News, June 20, 1998. Hinkley's address to Latter-day Saints in Paris.)

One day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
