Facing the opposition
(This image is a pentagram, a symbol of our main opposition. The symbol is found on the LDS Museum of Church History and Art.)
What are five of the most common attacks, made by LDS members, against the true and living God, against His word (the Bible), and against His Church (the body of Christ, which is made up of members of born-again believers all across the globe, with varied denominational backgrounds)?
1 – Look at all of the translations of the Bible there are. It does have errors in it, because man has changed it so much. The Bible has contradictions.
2 – Why are there so many different Christian churches and why is it that they don’t agree with each other? Which one teaches the right doctrine?
3 – Who was Jesus praying to in the garden? (In other words, they are attacking the triune nature of God: One God, in three Persons.)
4 – By what authority were you baptized? … You don’t have the proper authority!
5 – So you actually believe that all you have to do is just have faith, and then you can just go on living whatever life you want to? … You can just go out and kill someone and you’re still “saved?”
Christian, how would you answer to these? Study and be ready to answer.
The answers are found in the word of God, the Bible. "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15) "...sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." (1 Peter 3:15)
I wanted to take a closer look at these questions and update this Blog (later) with answers from the Bible.
